Movie News Update: Beautiful Creatures and Legend

The world of movie adaptation on YA titles is heating up with lots of news spilling out. Let's take a closer look at the some of the projects in development.

Beautiful Creatures - It's been a truck load of information spilling out, with Kami and Margaret visiting the set in New Orleans, fantastic behind the scenes tweets from Emmy Rossum, Kyle Gallner and Zoey Deutch or the first official still of Alden and Alice as Ethan and Lena. Legend - Wyck Godfrey, the uber producer of the Twilight movies, was interview by MTV right before the Movie Awards earlier this month and revealed a few juicy details. He talks about receiving a draft of the script that is FANTASTIC. For the movie, he discusses aging June and Day up to their early 20's, due to the dangerous world they're in. He then finishes by saying, they've passed along the draft script to their financier, CBS Films and are ready to go when they give them the green light. Fingers crossed for sooner!

It's pretty quiet on news for Vampire Academy, The Fault in Our Stars, Thirteen Reasons Why, Matched and On The Jellicoe Road but don't worry, we're keeping an ear to the ground for any news.

Bloodlines Bk 3: The Indigo Spell Cover

AAARGGHHH! Who is the mysterious third guy on the just released cover of The Indigo Spell? We will find out on 12 Feb 2013, when Book Three in the Bloodlines series is released.

A study of the The Indigo Spell cover, by your expert, Dr Penguin Teen Australia. Who, it must be noted, has not read a word of The Indigo Spell, and the below is flat out speculation.

**WARNING** CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR THE GOLDEN LILY

1. It's not quite finished - Richelle Mead mentioned on her blog, that this cover has tweaking to be done including Sydney's tattoo being added. Interestingly though she said tattooing, as in possibly plural tattoos.

2. We know Mr Right Hand Side of the Cover is Adrian Ivashkov, and we know the girl in the middle is Sydney Sage. Who could mysterious Mr Left Hand Side of the Cover be? We're leaning towards Marcus Finch, the rogue Alchemist and if so, damn, Sydney Sage is going to be a lucky a girl!

3. The lilies on the title logo are open in comparison to Bloodlines and The Golden Lily covers. Does this mean our favourite Alchemist could be opening her heart and mind?

4. Does this cover hint at a major love triangle to come, because if so, Adrian Ivashkov has the worst luck EVER!

5. Sydney seems pretty defiant here, staring us down and we're hoping this look is not just to the Sydrian fan-girls the world over, who may have reacted strongly to the last chapter of The Golden Lily.

6. No Jill? We love Jill for sure, but Jill is missing in action from this cover. Could this represent our little Dragomir Princess getting lost - maybe not literally but metaphorically.

7. It needs to be said again, Marcus Finch, if that's you - HELLO!

8. But let's not forget, Adrian Ivashkov - because if The Golden Lily proved anything, it's that the world needs more Adrian Ivashkov, a lot more.

If you're like us here at PTA, then you loved Lili St Crow's Strange Angels series for its slightly left of centre take on the paranormal world, with a heroine who would not be tamed, and a triangle that still causes debates to this day.

We're so excited to confirm we will be publishing Lili's next YA series, starting in February 2013. A dark and twisty retelling of fairytales, we've started reading early pages and it's GOOD people! The first book, Nameless, tackles Snow White with murky undertones and an evocative world full of magic and mystery.
